Prof. Dr. Jana Koehler holds the chair of Artificial Intelligence at Saarland University and is the CEO of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). Her research interests focus on AI methods for flexible and optimized processes in manufacturing and business. She studied Computer Science and Philosophy of Science at Humboldt University in Berlin and earned her doctorate at Saarland University. From 1990 to 1996 she worked at DFKI and subsequently habilitated at the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg. She also worked for Schindler AG and IBM Research Zurich. From 2010 to early 2019, she was Professor of Computer Science at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. She is a member of the German Computer Science Society GI, the Swiss Informatics Society SI, and a life-time member of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence AAAI. Since November 2014, Prof. Dr. Jana Koehler is president of SGAICO, the special interest group for artificial intelligence and cognitive science of the SI.
